I recently attended a one day workshop on the One South West LHCRE last week. The Local Health and Care Record Exemplers (LHCRE) are programmes funded by NHS digital to facilitate large scale sharing of information between groups of STPs. The One South West LHCRE covers BSW, BNSSG, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall STP areas.
I chaired the Clinical Advisory group which was made up of a variety of different clinical professionals. The comments from the group are what I’ve heard from clinical colleagues for a number of years:
- we want to share structured data that is relevant not pdf documents
- we don’t want to use anything but our host system but if we have to any separate system needs to log in automatically (no new logins)
- the interface needs to be intuitive and only require a minimum number of clicks to access information
- amount of data that is shared doesn’t have to be extensive e.g. simply being aware another organisation is involved can be really valuable
Meeting these needs is key for the success of the LHCREs as clinical buy in is essential for any meaningful transformation to occur.
